Callosa de Segura is in the province of Alicante, within the Valencian Community, in the region of the Vega Baja del Segura.The economy of the population is based on the service sector industry and agriculture. Similarly archaeological sites found in its territory show the town founded here was of great importance, either as a capital or site of strategic value, because it was the center of The Argaric civilization, serving as a strategic point.

According to investigations and archaeological excavations, the origin of the modern enclave of the municipality can be found in the Bronze Age, even Roman, in the Middle Ages where it was apparently found a villa which began to grow to a large extent.

It seems that the town grew under the domination of the Arabs which gave it the name of Callosa de Segura, so during this period its culture was influenced by the fact of finding under the control of the Arabs although, soon after the territory was recovered.

There were several economic activities highlighted, the natural industry of hemp was the most outstanding because the production of ropes and other products from hemp stood out being the maritime industrial sector of ropes, moorings and cables.

The hemp industry, both in cultivation and in use for the maritime industry, went through a major crisis where most of the inhabitants lost their source of employment, which caused many to migrate to France, Germany and Switzerland, but then the industry soon recovered with the use of synthetic materials.

The municipality has managed to grow not only in economy but in population also in services. Callosa de Segura is now a great source of tourism, its heritage and centers of interest manage to attract a large number of tourists
